In the News: Self Defense for Vancouver Home Owner
A Vancouver, WA homeowner shot and killed an intruder February 13, 2020. The homeowner reported that the suspect not only illegally entered him home, but when he was confronted, charged at the homeowner. The homeowner nor his family were hurt and police were immediately called.
KATU News interviewed me regarding self-defense law in Washington. Essentially, in order for self-defense using deadly force to be justified under the law. The person claiming self defense must believe they are in danger of immediately serious bodily injury or death and the force used is no more than reasonable. Additionally, when exercising self defense, you cannot be the one instigating the fight and you must be in a place where you are legally allowed to be.
